Last week I wrote in a blog that I was so ready for Keeping Faith’s main character, Patrick, to be out of my house. Now, admittedly that was a little tongue in cheek, but I have taken guff from friends for saying anything negative about him because I had earlier said how much I love my characters (I’m so thankful they are reading my blogs). I do love my characters. They have become family. After all, I made them what they are today—which are not exactly overnight successes, but I love them just the same. So I guess I need to explain why I said “I was never so glad to be rid of a man.”
I guess a good comparison is the feeling a parent must have when kids or other family members finally leave home. After awhile, no matter how much you love them, you want them to get on with their lives. The same goes for Patrick. But, he’ll return for the sequel, although in a much lesser role. And I will welcome him with open arms and a warm embrace. Several of you wrote that you were glad he was the main character rather than Sue and I totally agree. You’ll see her in another minor role as well. But Faith, my dear Faith, will run away with your heart as she did mine. But eventually, she will need to move on as well. There is only room in this house for any of them to stay so long. I have to make room for others! However, it appears that Faith just may play a cameo role in novel three which by the way is in progress.
I would love to know who your favorite character is in the book and why. Or who is your least favorite and why. So, please take a minute and make a comment on this blog. It may even help me be a better writer. Now, be nice. It’s the holidays!!
