I’m like an old dog—loyal to a fault when it comes to those I like, love and respect. I’ll fight to the finish for them and support them the distance. Same way with my characters. Of course, some characters I like better than others, and some I grow to admire as they develop into more likeable “people”—like Patrick for example. But how can anyone not adore Faith? So therefore, I’d like for her to stick around awhile longer, which is why she will join us in the third book, not as the main character, but her role will be significant.
After all, you have to “dance with the one who brung you,” as the old country western song goes. And Faith and Patrick started with me on this book trek. I haven’t decided what to do with him yet. I may retire him, but we’ll just have to see how he acts!! Maybe you have suggestions???
Novel three is going to be totally different. You are going to love to hate the main character—too early to share any more info than that!! However, I’m loving this plot, and hopefully you will also. I truly think it will be my best work. I recently was able to sit down with a valuable resource person and ask questions for part of my research. I’ll tell you more about him later. See, the stories are not without lots of work. Although it is fiction, it still needs to be accurate to be believable.
I am hoping to get a couple of months this summer when it is very hot outside and I can hole up at my computer and write most of each day. It’s very difficult to write sporadically. I need long stretches of dedicated thought and uninterrupted time so I won’t forget the last scene I sketched out in my mind or what the characters were doing when I backed up the chapter on my computer. I know what I am going to write, save a few twists and turns, and writing is actually well underway. My little notebook is “busting at the seams,” and the chapters are calling!!
